I guess ProGen was inspired in a lot of ways by what I remember the game used to do and look like in those early stages. Nothing can substitute that kind of experience, and in modding terms I doubt I would have progressed myself without it. Only a few people know that I worked for EAP for a time during the development of Generals on a consultancy basis, so I had the privilege of seeing the game 'grow' from early pre-alpha prototype stage.

Ended up being a hybrid of all that plus a lot of issue/bug fixes from the original game. Hmm, started out as a mix between what could have/should have been, what actually was, and what actually there once was (confused? you will be!). :) I'm really hoping the Tiberian universe is the next step within the SAGE engine. You have to agree though that the wealth of talent in EA's resource pool means that they can really do some very cool stuff with C&C - just take the sound track from Generals/ZH and the cinematics as well as the development of SAGE itself to see what I mean. You can't help but feel that the franchise has lost its initial appeal, although it has aged well. I felt that Zero Hour went back to traditional C&C in some ways.

What exactly are your thoughts on the direction EA seems to be going with the C&C trademark? Doing what I like and getting paid, only bummer is that I have even less spare time on my hands these days but I'm working on that.
